United Way volunteer opportunities

The listings below are a small sample of needs from more than 200 agencies, available by going online to www.unitedwaycc.org and clicking on “Volunteer.” If you do not have computer access, or would like more information about the volunteer opportunities, call 860-1677 Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

 

FOR CHILDREN

Gan Yeladim Preschool needs two volunteers to work with children aged two months to 2 years in the early learning center. Engage in floor play, cuddle babies, read stories and walk in the neighborhood, two hours per week. Training is provided in both educational philosophy and Jewish traditions. Background check is required.

 

BOOKS FOR CHILDREN

Fletcher Free Library invites community members to participate in the 21st Annual “Books for Children Gift Campaign,” to provide city preschoolers with new, quality books during the holidays. Books may be purchased at participating bookstores at a discount. Choose from the library’s list or make your own selections, which will be distributed through agencies serving Burlington children. Books are needed by Dec. 11.

 

HOMEWORK TUTOR

Boys & Girls Club of Burlington needs volunteers to help 6 – to 12-year-olds with academic and computer work focusing on math, reading and general homework projects during its power hour educational program. Ten hours per month, weekdays, 3:30 p.m. to 4 p.m.
