Learning to tie your own flies using many different materials. The instructors, with more than 15 years of experience, will teach participants to tie small, simple flies and larger, more complex varieties – with lots of individual attention. Ages 16-plus. Mondays, Feb. 15, 29, March 7, 21, April 4 and 18, 7-9 p.m. at the Rotisserie, 1355 Williston Rd., South Burlington. $30/person. You must provide your own vise, small scissors, bobbin and threader. All other materials provided. Instructors: Vermont Fly Fishing and Tying Club.
Gentle Yoga is appropriate for all those seeking the benefits of a very relaxing, gentle and restorative practice. Learn how to mindfully move and breathe through this slower paced, well supported program. Your first class is free to try, pre-registration is required. Ages 18-plus. Mondays and Wednesdays, 6:30-7:30 p.m. $60 for an eight-visit punch card. Instructor: Jill Lang
Senior Strength Training
Each class begins with a light warm up then proceeds into basic strength training exercises that help improve muscle tone, balance, and coordination. The workout changes every month to keep the class fresh and exciting. Weight loss and increasing daily energy is a benefit from strength training. Program is held at the Federated Church. Ages 50-plus. Tuesdays or Thursdays, 10:15-11:15 a.m., year round. First class free, pricing and registration available at first class. Instructor: Tristan Lanfear
Zumba Gold is a less intense exercise, with dance routines designed for beginners and older adults using modified movements. The program improves balance, flexibility and cardiovascular strength while teaching basic dance steps. A longer warm up and cool down is done to provide a proper workout. Program is held at the Federated Church. Ages 45-plus. Mondays and Fridays, 10:15-11:15 a.m., year round. First class free, pricing and registration available at first class.
