School budget process enters next phase

EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is part of a series of monthly articles submitted by the Champlain Valley School District Board of Directors.

As we near the end of 2017, we are actively planning for the future success of our school district. Our intent is to continue to foster a dynamic discourse with the community. The communication goals we set are to keep you informed and increase your access to your school board.

Your initial responses and positive feedback to our efforts is encouraging. We know that our monthly newsletters and public posts are answering your questions and that our presence at school open houses, curriculum nights and other events has sparked useful face-to-face conversations.

Our November community budget forum was a broader effort to encourage dialogue. The quality of discussions that resulted from the forum, as well as the responses to our online budget input form told us what you value most in your schools.

Your praise and appreciation for our teachers was overwhelming. Your message to keep our high caliber of education while finding cost-cutting efficiencies was heard.

Your valuable input is considered by both the Champlain Valley School District administration and the board, and it will help inform the budget process during the following December and January Budget Meetings. Please join us.
