Tom Tessier passed away unexpectedly at age 64, in his home on Oct. 22. He was in the arms of his loving wife of 43 years, Mary. Tom was born June 13, 1952, to William and Frances Tessier in Burlington.
He is survived by his parents, William and Frances, loving wife Mary, his devoted children Cara and her husband Mike; Kate and her husband Kyle; and Geoffrey and his wife Elizabeth, as well as his grandchildren Matthew, Mallory, Riley and Olivia.
He also leaves behind his siblings Mary Jane Johnson, Cheryl Tessier, and Kim Hynes. He also leaves many extended family members on both sides. He is predeceased by his brother William Tessier. Tom grew up in Williston and attended CVU High School and graduated in 1971. After high school he entered the Vermont National Guard until 1981. He began working for the State of Vermont at the Department of Motor Vehicles in 1976 and retired in 2009 after 33 years of service. In later years he was an active member of the Elks Lodge in Burlington.
In his final years, he spent many loving hours at home with his grandchildren, who enjoyed his dry humor and quiet support. He enjoyed sitting in his recliner and watching “Life Below Zero” surrounded by his loved ones. A memorial service was held on Oct. 26 at the funeral home. Burial will be held privately with the family at Resurrection Park, South Burlington.
