Three hundred Little League players from Williston and St. George exemplified the spirit of community and team sports at their best at the annual Hit-A-Thon on Saturday, which featured a free barbecue, donated by the 99 Restaurant.
The event raised nearly $9,000 for the league, which will be used to buy and install two portable scoreboards for the softball program, and to help cover future equipment upgrades, as well as to keep fees for participation affordable and offer scholarships.
Each team competed in a hitting contest with Champ from the Vermont Lake Monsters looking on. The winners of the hitting contest were: Taylor Detch, Stephen Rickert and Calvin Merrill. For more photos, visit the Web Extras section at willistonobserver.com.
