After clinching five gold medals at the USAG XD Gymnastics Vermont State Championship Competitio held on March 21, Williston resident and Champlain Valley Union High freshman Emma Lieberman is heading to the regionals in May.
Lieberman finished with a total of 37.175 points to defend the Vermont State Championship titles she won previously at both the 2014 XP and 2013 XG state competitions.
As All-Around Gold Medalist, Lieberman will be the sole gymnast from Vermont’s USAG Gymnastics XD program to advance and represent the green mountain state at the USAG Regional Championships in May. Lieberman will compete against challengers from Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York and Rhode Island.
Lieberman was representing Regal Gymnastics Academy, which also included Williston seventh-grader Mekkena Boyd, who placed first on floor and vault in the XP division.
Lieberman was unable to compete for her CVU team at the recent state championship, due to a broken hand. Her cast came off two weeks ago.
