Holiday Party Decorating

Saturday, Dec. 3 10:30-12:30 p.m. Celebrate the coming winter! Kids can make a gingerbread house while adults help us decorate for the winter holidays. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Pre-register kids for gingerbread houses. Election of Friends Officers at 10 a.m.

Read to a Cat!

Thursday, Dec. 15, 3-4 p.m. Bring a book and read to Van Gogh, a certified therapy cat with “Love on a Leash” Foundation. Pre-register for a one-on-one session or just say hello.

Technology Night

Wednesday, Dec. 14, 5:30-6:30 p.m. Ken Bernard of Vermont Tech offers a new topic on each second Wednesday. This month: What’s inside a computer and what does it do?

Movie: ‘Everest’

Saturday, Dec. 17, 11 a.m. The 2015 movie, based on the real events of the 1996 Mount Everest disaster, focuses on the survival attempts of two expedition groups. Rated PG-13. Snacks provided. (2h 30m).

Science Story Night: ‘Woolly Bear Winter’

Wednesday, Nov. 30, 6:30 p.m. Learn about animal habitats and cold weather survival with Abbie Bowker, author/illustrator of “Woolly Bear Winter.” Hands-on activities, crafts and poetry writing. All ages.

Food for Thought Teen Library Volunteers

Thursday, Dec. 1, 4-5 p.m. Teens meet for pizza, discussion and planning special events for the library. Community service opportunity. Grades 7-12. 

Preschool Music

Mondays at 11 a.m, Dec. 5, 12, and 19 with Peter. Thursdays at 10:30 a.m., Dec. 8 and 15 with Marcie. Thursdays 10:30 a.m, Dec. 1 and 29, Spanish music with Constancia. Non-Spanish speakers welcome. For children up to age 5 with a caregiver. No pre-registration. Limit: one session per week per family. No music on Dec. 22 and 26.

Gingerbread Houses

Saturday, Dec. 3, 10:30 a.m for all ages of children or Thursday, Dec. 8, 3 p.m. for children in grades K-5. Pre-register.


Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2-3 p.m. Make your own LEGO creations using the library’s LEGO collection.

Coding Club

Dec. 6 and 13, 4:30-5:30 p.m. Design your own video game in Scratch. Play your game with a custom controller created using Makey Makey. Eighth-grade Challenge project, grades 3-4 are invited. Pre-register, space limited.

Preschool Story Time

Tuesdays, 10:30 a.m. Includes a simple craft. Dec. 6: Hooray for Grandparents with Victoria Francis; Dec. 13: Fairy Tales; Dec. 20: Get Ready for Winter (No story time Dec. 27). Ages 3-5.

Spanish Musical Playgroup

Make a Holiday Arrangement

Wednesday, Dec. 7, 6:30 p.m.  Sharon Niquette of Williston’s Buds and Roses will lead a group on making a holiday floral arrangement. All materials provided. Open to 10 adults. Pre-registration required.
