Quartback Andrew Bortnick helped lead the Redhawks to seven touchdowns during their Sept. 26 win against St. Johnsbury. CVU plays Colchester High Friday night.

Fresh off a big win against St. Johnsbury High, the 3-2 Champlain Valley Union High Redhawks have a tough opponent ahead Friday night—2-3 Colchester High.

On Saturday, the Redhawks put forth what Coach Michael Williams called their “best effort of the season,” defeating St. Johnsbury 49-13.
“I think the boys were a little embarrassed at how we played the week before against Essex. They had a great week of practice last week and played a focused 48 minutes of football,” Williams wrote in an email to the Observer.

The team is now looking ahead to Friday’s game, set for 7 p.m. on Colchester’s home turf.
“We are looking to keep the momentum going — we have a very tough opponent this week as we travel to Colchester for a Friday night game,” he said. “We need to have another great week of practice and execute the game plan to have a chance against the Lakers.”
