• Fire crews responded to a two-car accident at the corner of Maple Tree Place and Vermont 2A at 1:08 p.m. on April 24. A Honda CRV and a Chevy Tahoe collided at the intersection, according to the fire report. Damage was minimal to both vehicles, but one patient was transported by St. Michael’s College Rescue Service to Fletcher Allen Health Care for observation. Six firefighters responded to the scene on Engine 3 and Hazmat 1.
• Crews responded to Vermont 2A near the intersection with Hideaway Lane for a three-car collision at 12:33 p.m. on May 5. A Chevy Impala rear-ended a Toyota Prius, which in turn hit a Toyota Rav 4. The Impala and Rav 4 received minor damage, but the Prius sustained major front and rear end damage, according to the report. Two patients were transported by St. Michael’s College Rescue Service and Essex Rescue to Fletcher Allen Health Care for injuries. Seven firefighters responded on Engine 3 and Hazmat 1.
Crews responded to a small brush fire near the Wal-Mart parking lot at 12:46 p.m. on April 20. Someone had tossed a lit cigarette into some brush, igniting grasses and mulch, according to the fire log. Firefighter Sean Soper said the fire was small and crews quickly extinguished the flames before they could spread. The brush fire came at a time of high fire danger due to extremely dry conditions, Soper said.
