Kelsey Jensen, a Champlain Valley Union High field hockey player, competes in a game at the National Futures Championship in Virginia last month.

Jensen recently returned from four days at the National Futures Championship in Virginia Beach, Va. She played in six games from June 26-29 on one of 16 teams in national competition.

“I learned a lot,” Jensen said of the games, which were held at the national field hockey training facility.

The CVU veteran earned the trip to Virginia after turning in a standout performance at a Region 1 (Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont) training camp in New Hampshire.

Jensen said she will keep training and playing locally to prepare for the August day when CVU coach Kate McDonald issues her first call to practice.
