On Tuesday, Aug. 16 at 4:38 a.m., the Williston Fire Department was alerted to a fire alarm at the Allen Brook School off Talcott Road. Firefighters arrived within two minutes to find smoke in the building, the Fire Department said. The crew from Engine 3 and Rescue 2 extinguished a fire in a common space within a classroom area. The fire originated in a residential style fan unit, which extended to flooring, but not to nearby combustibles, the Department said in a release on social media.
The building was unoccupied at the time of the alarm, and no fire or EMS personnel were injured. The Williston Fire Department responded with a total of seven personnel in an engine, a rescue and a command car. The South Burlington Fire Department provided an engine to cover any additional calls. All fire department units were clear of the scene in just over two hours.
The building remained closed for activities throughout Tuesday while the school worked with a restoration contractor to perform cleaning activities. The fire was deemed to be accidental in nature.
