CVU wrestlers head for the hills (2/4/10)

With a pair of strong performances last weekend in the Colchester High Invitational, Champlain Valley Union High wrestlers will journey to the mountains Saturday — Jericho Center, to be specific — where they will compete in the Mount Mansfield Union High Invitational (10 a.m.).

Last weekend, in a field that included some of Vermont's best along with powerhouse teams from northern New York state, CVU's Ryan Stearns and Sam Fortin came away with solid rankings.

Fortin, working in the 171-pound class, took the runner-up spot, hiking his season record to 29-6.

Stearns, a 130-pounder, captured third place in his division and is 23-11 for the season.
