The Champlain Valley Union High cross country teams return to the Green Mountains on Saturday — literally — with their annual trek up and down the Connecticut Valley hills in the Thetford Invitational. The feet hit the trails at 10 a.m.
Coach Scott Bliss’ runners got a taste of New England Regional competition last Saturday, the girls taking sixth place in the Elite Division of the prestigious Manchester, N.H. Invitational, just ahead of seventh place Essex High.
Summer Spillane and teammate Adrienne Devita were the leading Vermont runners in their division, finishing sixth and seventh.
The boys team, paced by Zak Pete (14th) and Justin McKenzie (17th), were fifth in the Large School Division, just behind fourth place St. Johnsbury Academy.
