Girls to ski Thursday
March 4, 2010
The Champlain Valley Union High girls alpine ski team will make its try for the state title Thursday at the Middlebury Snow Bowl against Vermont’s best high school slalom and giant slalom performers.
The boys took their shot Monday and topped all northern teams but finished fourth overall behind three southern schools — winning Rutland High, Burr and Burton Academy of Manchester and Woodstock Union High.
Cody Putre, back from an injury that kept him out of the recent northern division championships — which the CVU team won — took fourth in the giant slalom. Teammate Dan Caffrey finished seventh. The Redhawks had no one in the top 10 in the two-run slalom.
