A story in last week’s Observer (“Improvements planned at deadly intersection”) contained incorrect information about access rights to Tim’s Snack Shack, located at the intersection of U.S. 2 and Industrial Avenue. The Vermont Agency of Transportation, which owns a strip of land along U.S. 2, never needed to apply through the town to allow vehicles to access the privately owned property set back from the road. Landowner William Andrus sold the property and access rights to the property directly in front of Tim’s Snack Shack. He then needed to obtain access rights from the state so that vehicles could enter that piece of property. Those access rights were never granted.
