December brought record warmth to Vermont, according to the National Weather Service, hitting 68 degrees in Burlington on Christmas Eve. The average for December was 39 degrees.
While an unseasonably warm December meant Vermonters didn’t have a white Christmas, the mercury dropped soon after the beginning of 2016. Temperatures went as low as 2 degrees on Jan. 4, though they were projected to be back into the 30s by the end of the week.
