The Champlain Valley Union High Redhawks are into the playoff season after securing the number 5 seed.

Tuesday night’s playdown game against 12th-seeded St. Johnsbury was postponed to Wednesday night, after the Observer’s press deadline. If the Redhawks win that game, they’ll play Friday against number four seed Mount Anthony, which beat 13th-seeded Spaulding High 71-62 during Tuesday’s playdown game to secure its spot in the playoffs.

CVU ended the regular season with a 14-6 record after beating Spaulding 67-61 last Friday.

CVU’s Walker Storey once again had the most points—24, including three 3-pointers. Spaulding’s Matt Allen had 21 points, while Redhawks Josh Bliss put up 16 points, George Davis 10 and Colin Monsey 9. Jed Morris had 10 assists.

The game had its ups and downs.

“CVU was down 8 at half, tied it in third, went back down 9 and rallied for win,” Coach Michael Osborne wrote in an email to the Observer. “CVU hit 12 3’s in the game.”

The junior varsity team also won its last game to finish the season 14-5.
