Around Town

Jan. 5, 2012

On Jan. 7, Williston Boy Scout Troop 692 will collect Christmas trees in the following neighborhoods: Southridge, Brennan Woods, Indian Ridge, Wildflower Circle, Turtle Pond, Pleasant Acres, and Ledgewood. The troop plans to collect the trees in the morning and asks residents to leave their trees at the bottom of their driveways.

Residents from other neighborhoods can leave their trees at the Williston Central School cafeteria entrance on the same day, between noon and 3 p.m.

The troop, which will take the trees away to be mulched, is providing the service for free but would appreciate donations.

Champlain Valley Union High School band students are planning to participate in a music festival in New York City in March 2012, and are trying to raise funds to benefit scholarship students and help defray the cost of these trips.

Christmas trees will be picked up on Jan. 7 for a $10 donation, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., in the following Williston housing developments/neighborhoods: Maple Tree Place, Pinecrest Village, Lamplite Acres, Chelsea Drive, Meadowridge, Heritage Meadows, Golf Links, Katie Lane, Pleasant Acres, Old Stage Estates, Coyote Run and Ledgewood Drive.

Make check payable to “CVU Music,” put it in an envelope and plastic sandwich bag, and attach it to your tree. Trees will be brought to the Intervale for composting. Condo and apartment dwellers are asked to bring their trees to the front of their developments and leave them by the curbs.

If your tree is not picked up by 2 p.m. that day, call Andrew Miskavage at 482-4770.
