Wrestlers earn first Northern Vermont Athletic Conference championship

With a week off to prepare for the Vermont Interscholastic Championships at Bennington Feb. 28 and March 1, Champlain Valley Union High varsity wrestlers will be cheering for their junior varsity counterparts Saturday when they take part in the junior varsity state tournament at Spaulding High in Barre.

The event has a 10 a.m. start.

Last Saturday, the varsity captured CVU’s first Northern Vermont Athletic Conference championship at Vergennes Union High, beating out nine other schools in the duals.

Coach Gunnar Olson’s athletes scored wins over host Vergennes Union and St. Johnsbury Academy before taking the measure of Mount Mansfield Union in the title match by a 48-32 tally.

In the key win over St. Johnsbury, according to a news release, CVU’s Kienan Kittredge, moved up to the 220-pound weight class from his usual 195-pound division to win a tense, close match.

The victory put the Redhawks into the championship round.

almost 3 decades ago when williston started it’s development review process the public works section was pushing for a wider roadway typical for residential streets. The town adopted 30 ft widths vs 24ft. That’s 6/24 (30%) additional impervious area and runoff that needs to treated before flowing into ALLEN BROOK. The town and selectboard have indicated a lack of interest to reach out and help communties like mine that have had expired stormwater permits for more then a decade. Its always been a wait and see, well I see where this headed now.
