It was a stand-up fall season for Champlain Valley Union High junior varsity teams in all major sports — particularly for girls soccer and football, which enjoyed undefeated campaigns.
In addition, the boys jayvee soccer team lost only once while field hockey’s juniors were beaten twice.
“We had a very talented sophomore group,” said girls junior varsity soccer coach Katherine Riley. Her team finished 12-0 and fired home 60 goals to a mere three for the opposition.
Boys jayvee mentor Jeff Evans’ team put up a 12-1 record, losing only to Bellows Free Academy of St. Albans.
He said the Little Hawks ran up a 94-6 advantage in goals and had players that will make varsity tryouts very competitive next year.
Riley said the same would hold for the girls tryouts.
