Two local agencies are looking for volunteers to make a difference in the life of a child:

Foster Grandparent Program: Volunteers age 55 and over serve at preschools, child care centers, Head Start programs and elementary schools in Chittenden, Franklin and Grand Isle Counties. Spend between 15 and 40 hours a week under the supervision of a teacher or staff person to help with tutoring, mentoring and self-esteem building. Volunteers receive a small, non-taxable stipend. Howard Center: The Community Friends Mentoring Program matches children with caring adult friends in fun, nurturing, one-to-one relationships. CVAA is seeking dependable volunteers to help seniors get out of their homes after a snowfall. Volunteers are matched with a senior to shovel snow when there is an accumulation of 3 inches of snow or more. A great way for teen volunteers to help. Contact Erica Marks at 865-0360 or email

ReSOURCE is hoping to give new life to its arts and crafts supplies and is looking for creative volunteers to bring its new ArtCycle section of card-stock, string, fabric, tiles, etc. to its fullest potential.
