After chalking up some successes this past weekend in the highly competitive Burlington High Invitational, the Champlain Valley Union High track and field team could look forward to its second home meet of the season Wednesday afternoon, when it will entertain teams from Burlington High, Colchester High and Middlebury Union High.

But first, there is an appearance Friday in St. Albans at the annual Bob White Relays, with Bellows Free Academy the host.

The Redhawks took fifth place overall in the 20-team Burlington event, which combined the scores of the boys and girls teams.

Victories came Friday for the boys and girls 800-meter relay teams.

Virginia Farley, Sara Lewis, Summer Spillane and Maddy Christian combined for a 10-second edge in the girls relay.

Tony Sulva, Jason Clairmont, Zak Pete and Matt Sulva gave the boys their triumph in a time of 8 minutes, 19.56 seconds.

On Saturday, Matt Sulva came back and registered a runner-up finish in the individual 800.

Also on Saturday, Tucker Spillane’s pole vault of 12 feet, 2 inches was good for second place. Teammate Brayden McKenna tied for fifth.

In Friday’s individual 3,000 run for girls, Christian scampered to a second place finish with Farley fourth.

Summer Spillane captured fifth in the girls’ pole vault.

James Pieper-Lococo swooped to a fourth place finish in the boys 300 hurdles.

CVU athletes also produced victories in two non-counting events.

A team of Emily Leffler, Emma Eddy, Olympia Taheri and Kendra Haven produced a triumph in the 1,600 sprint medley.

Sara Lewis won a freshman 1,500 run.
