The University Mall in South Burlington will host a 60,000-square-foot Target store starting next year, KeyPoint Partners announced last week.

KeyPoint, the Massachussets company that manages the University Mall, negotiated the lease with Target. The store will be Target’s first in Vermont. Construction of the store will begin in February with an October opening planned. The store will occupy space currently occupied by The Bon-Ton.

“Vermont shoppers have been waiting for Target to come to their state, and Target has been very patient in securing its first Vermont site,” said Don Mace, vice president of leasing at KeyPoint.

KeyPoint also announced earlier this month a lease agreement to relocate and expand the Victoria’s Secret and Bath & Body Works stores at the mall.

“We have a number of additional planned improvements in the works,” Mace said.
