Observer staff report
KinderStart Preschool in Williston is hosting a Great Bed Time Story Pajama Drive through January. Students are collecting pajamas of all sizes for all ages, though there is a higher need for pajamas for older children. The drive supports Pajama Program, which works to deliver warm sleepwear and nurturing books to children in need nationwide, many of whom are waiting to be adopted.
Pajamas must be brand new and complete sets or nightgowns. Pajamas in children’s sizes must be manufactured as pajamas to ensure they are flame-retardant and safe.
For every pair of pajamas the school donates, Scholastic Book Club will donate a book. Currently, there is not a Vermont chapter for the Pajama Program, but Bergeron said she has spoken with the organization to encourage them to keep all donations local, and there is a Williston organization with which the Pajama Program will connect KinderStart.
KinderStart students also recently made cards and collected items to send a holiday care package overseas to the school’s “adopted soldier,” Corey Carter, and other soldiers in his platoon.
