CVU girls LAX home to Cougars Friday
Coach Hillary Arthur’s Champlain Valley Union High girls lacrosse team will be gunning for a second triumph Friday (4:30 p.m.) when the Mount Mansfield Union High Cougars visit the Redhawks’ hillside digs.
The 1-3 CVU combine already has two contests completed this week. Rice Memorial High came to Hinesburg Monday for a make-up game and went away with a 17-9 triumph as the Green Knight’s Jillian Varin was an unstoppable force scoring seven times.
Caroline Hern and Thea Weiss fired two goals each for CVU.
Tuesday night, the Redhawks bowed 20-3 under the lights at Burlington High as the Seahorses’ Casey O’Neill unleashed eight goals.

Home stand continued for CVU softball team
The winless Champlain Valley Union High softball team will try to even up their season series with South Burlington High when the Rebels invade the Redhawks’ Hinesburg nest Thursday afternoon. The Rebs popped the Hawks two weeks ago in the season opener in South Burlington.
It has been a tough week so far for CVU which bowed 15-0 Monday on the road at Vergennes Union High and then got cuffed 26-4 Tuesday at home by Spaulding High which exploded for 12 runs in the top of the seventh inning.
Coaches Pete Monty’s and Paul Potter’s Redhawks close out the three-game homestand Tuesday when St. Johnsbury Academy comes calling.
