CVU BOYS IN LACROSSE SEMIFINAL THURSDAY

Postponed from Tuesday, the sixth-seeded Champlain Valley Union High boys lacrosse team is scheduled to travel to Bennington Thursday afternoon for a 5 p.m. semifinal engagement against second-seeded Mount Anthony Union.

Should the 12-5 Redhawks knock off the 15-2 Patriots, they would meet either fourth-seeded 13-4 Brattleboro or old friends at top-seeded 15-2 Essex High in the Division 1 championship this weekend at Castleton State College.

Coach Dave Trevithick’s Redhawks made the semifinals for the 14th straight season by virtue of a 9-7 road win Friday over third seed South Burlington High.

Nevin DiParlo and Elliott Mitchell each scored three goals to pace the CVU scoring as the Hawks grabbed a 6-2 edge by halftime and then held on behind goalie Owen Hudson’s 13 saves and the usual gritty defense.
