Former CVU lacrosse players score honors

Two former Champlain Valley Union High lacrosse players have made their marks in private school competition.

Geordie Beldock played this season at Berkshire School in Sheffield, Mass. and was named first team, all-league in the Western New England School Lacrosse League.

Jared Boudreau, at Brewster Academy in Wolfeboro, N.H., was a first team all-star in the Northern New England Lacrosse League.

Women rowers make national scholar-athlete list

Haley Peterson of Williston, a member of Hamilton College’s class of 2011, was named a national scholar-athlete for the 2009 season by the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.

Peterson, a Champlain Valley Union High School graduate, was one of three rowers from the college’s women’s team who earned the honor. She was in the bow seat when the second varsity eight finished fifth in the grand final of the New York State championships in early May.

Student-athletes that make the list need a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50, must be at least a sophomore in academic eligibility and must have rowed in the institution’s varsity boat for a minimum of 75 percent of the spring races.
