Spillane, girls XC take first in states

The Champlain Valley Union High School girls won the cross-country state championship for the fourth year in a row—the ninth win in the past 10 years.

Taylor Spillane led the team to victory with a time of 19:07.9, with Autumn Eastman in second with a time of 19:22.6. Julienne Devita took fifth with 20:36.5; Abby Keim tenth with 20:55.2; Carly Neeld 13th with 21:27.8; Emma Putre 14th with 21:30.1; and Aleksey Jordick 18th with 21:54.4.

The boys team took the runner-up spot after South Burlington High, with Nick Boutin coming in seventh with a time of 17:45.2.  Sean Delaney was 11th with 17:52.5, Clarke Shed 14th with 17:57 and Jared Keyes 19th with 18:10.9.

The New England meet is set for Nov. 10 in Maine.

    almost 3 decades ago when williston started it’s development review process the public works section was pushing for a wider roadway typical for residential streets. The town adopted 30 ft widths vs 24ft. That’s 6/24 (30%) additional impervious area and runoff that needs to treated before flowing into ALLEN BROOK. The town and selectboard have indicated a lack of interest to reach out and help communties like mine that have had expired stormwater permits for more then a decade. Its always been a wait and see, well I see where this headed now.
