Three girls from Green Mountain Gymnastics in Williston have been successful in the Elite Aerial Development Program (EADP) for youth ages 11-17 and will be moving on soon for further training and development at Mount Hood in Oregon.

EADP, headquartered at Lake Placid, works with young people to develop skiing skills, through “aerial skiing” in which skiing ability is not required.

The three Green Mountain Gymnastics girls—Megan Nick of Champlain Valley Union High, Kira Tanghe of Essex Junction and Duxbury’s Tyra Izor—completed aerial skiing tryouts from June 23 to 31 at Lake Placid. The program included 17 girls and 11 boys.

Some of the areas in which the young people are rated included trampoline skills, physical condition and performances on the Lake Placid water ramp. Talent, passion, maturity and attitude are also considered.

The EADP program and the Mount Hood instruction are linked to development of future U.S. Ski Team members.
