Seeking Mini Metro basketball players

The Mini Metro youth basketball league is recruiting players for the winter season, which runs from November through mid-February. Practices begin Oct. 10.

There are boys and girls teams in a fifth- and sixth-grade division and a seventh- and eighth-grade division.

Mini Metro is a competitive league with games on Sundays and one or two practices a week.

Teams representing Champlain Valley Union are made up of players from Charlotte, Hinesburg, St. George, Shelburne and Williston. Scholarship funds are available for players in need of financial support.

Tryouts are on the following dates at the Champlain Valley Union High School gymnasium.

5-6 grade girls: Saturday, Sept 16, 2-4 p.m. and Saturday, Sept 23, 4-5:30 p.m.

7-8 grade girls: Saturday, Sept 16, 5-7 p.m. and Saturday, Sept 23, 6-7:30 p.m.

5-6 grade boys: Saturday, Sept 30, 3-5 p.m. and Sunday, Oct 1, 10-11:30 p.m.

7-8 grade boys: Saturday, Sept 30, 6-8 p.m. and Sunday, Oct 1, 1-2:30 p.m.
