Adult Programs

Here is a list of adult programs that are starting in early September. Be sure to register now for the programs that you want to join. Spots fill up fast. Register online at willistonrec.org.

Trim your WASTE-line

You know why it’s important to keep as much as possible out of the landfill – it’s just hard to ‘imagine-eer’ how to make it work in your home or workplace. The experts from Chittenden Solid Waste District are offering four free workshops to help you set your household or workplace up for success with recycling, composting, household hazardous waste and more. Join us for one or all of these workshops. For detailed information on each workshop, visit the Rec website. All ages, Tuesdays, 6 -7:30 p.m. Free. Pre-registration is required. Sept. 13: Recycling Tips & Tricks; Sept. 20: Think Outside the Blue Bin; Sept. 27: Simple Steps to a Non-Toxic Household; Oct. 4: What to do with Food Scraps.

Youth Programs

Youth Rec Soccer

This is the last opportunity to register for the fall Recreation programs. Practices for grades 1-8 are planned to start the week of Aug. 30. Register online. Kindergarten program starts Sept. 10, registration is open until Sept. 8. Those who have registered will be contacted by their coach with their first practice day and time.

GPS Junior Soccer Clinic

The Rec Dept. is teaming up with Global Premier Soccer to offer soccer for 3- to 5-year-olds. The age-appropriate curriculum and expert, professional coaches create the perfect environment to develop motor and coordination skills. GPS Juniors program is designed with the idea that children naturally want to have fun. Players will also receive a t-shirt. Fridays, 4:30-5:15 p.m., Sept. 9- Oct. 14, $72.

Swim Lessons at The Edge

Lessons for ages 6 months through 10 years begin the week of Sept. 6. Lessons introduce swimming techniques and help increase safety skills around the water. Following Red Cross guidelines, each level provides a building block for the next. There are a limited number of spots and registration is done through the Rec. Dept. Check the Rec website for days and times. $80 per session.

Horseback Riding Lessons

Join the staff at Livery Horse Farm in Hinesburg for group lessons offered for beginner through advanced riders. The focus is on English riding and there are also lessons in balance seat and basic dressage. The school horses provide a variety of skill levels for children to safely learn on. Lessons are held in a safely fenced, large sand ring. Children will learn about horses, how to ride, groom and work in the barn. Great Escape Discount Tickets

Day tickets and parking passes are on sale at the Town Clerk’s Office. Tickets are $39 each, regularly priced at $58.99. Parking passes are $18 each, regularly $20. Tickets can be purchased Mon.-Fri., 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Tickets will be available until Fri., Sept. 2.
