Core de Force

Core de Force is a non-contact total-body workout inspired by MMA-style training that combines movements from Western boxing, kickboxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai. The workout is in three-minute rounds, just like boxing, using HIIT intervals. Skill-based cardio training and core-centric movements are used to strengthen the core and whole body. Instructor: Denise Francis. Ages 18 and up, Mondays, Oct. 30-Dec. 11, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $42.

Dog/Puppy Essentials: Basic Training & Social Skills

This six-week course covers all you need to know to understand and have a well-behaved dog using a simple training approach you can use well after the course ends. Adults 18 and up, dogs 8 weeks and up. Mondays, Nov. 8-Dec. 18, 6:15-7:15 p.m. Cost is $130 per dog.

Dog Training: Beyond Basics Course

The five-week course continues to build a foundation of manners, training and social skills that were started in the basic course. You and your dog will have lots of opportunity to practice the approaches through carefully constructed exercises. Goldstar Dog Training instructors. Ages 18 and up. Dogs must have taken basic course. Mondays, Nov. 6- Dec. 11, 7:30-8:30 p.m. Cost is $115 per dog.

Knitting for Adults

Learn to knit or improve your knitting skills while enjoying the fun of knitting with a group. The program offers the basics for first-time knitters, as well as provides early and intermediate knitters with specific how-tos and help with projects. Materials are available for purchase at first class, or bring your own. Program at The Knitting Circle, Essex Junction. Instructor: Christine Heavner. Ages 18 and up. Tuesdays, Nov. 7-Dec. 19, 7-8:30 p.m. Cost is $72.

Intro to Zentangle Drawing

The method is easy to learn, relaxing and a fun way to create beautiful images. This two-hour workshop is a basic introduction that will cover the history, applications and steps of creating an original Zentangle tile. For all levels, and requires no artistic experience. Fee includes all materials and kit to take home. Instructor: Jamie Proctor-Brassard. Ages 16 and up. Saturday, Nov. 11, 9-11 a.m. Cost is $36.

Beginner Electronics & Programming w/Arduino Microcontrollers

The program introduces beginners to the world of building small electronic projects that can be controlled by microcontrollers called Arduino. Basic principles of electronics and programming are explored. A parent must be present for ages 8-12; 13 and older can take it without a parent. Instructor: Bryan Serinese. Saturdays, Nov. 4-18, 9-11 a.m. Cost is $49 per child. Registration deadline Oct. 27.

Youth Taekwondo

Does your child want to do Taekwondo, but you don’t want to commit to the pricing and equipment? If so, this is a great opportunity for you and your child. Kojo Academy is offering a four-week introductory program. Your child will learn basic practical self-defense and how to deal with bullying situations. This program is for new students only. Ages 7-15, Saturdays, Oct. 28-Nov. 4, 9-10 a.m. Cost is $44.

Introduction to the Violin

The six-week program is for beginners. The program starts off with basic care and maintenance and progresses to playing simple songs from a method book. The goal of the class is to have fun learning a new instrument. Violins will be available for rent for the duration of the program. Sizing by Vermont Violins for rentals on Nov. 2, 7-8 p.m. Ages 8 and up, Tuesdays, Nov. 7-Dec. 19, 6:30-7:30 p.m. Cost is $87. Rental is $20 for violin and bow and $5 for rosin.

Knitting

Grade 3-8, Tuesdays, 2-3:30 p.m. Starting Oct. 31.

Young Rembrandts Drawing

Grades K-2, Tuesdays 1:40-3 p.m. Starting Oct. 31.

Grades 3-6, Tuesdays, 2-3:20 p.m. Starting Oct. 31.

After School Bowling

Grades 1-6, Tuesdays, dismissal to 5 p.m. Starting Nov. 7.

Youth Basketball Registration

Registration for youth basketball is now open and available at willistonrec.org. Programs for K-sixth grade and boy’s seventh and eighth grade. Kindergarten program starts in January as a clinic for parent and child. The first- and second-grade program is coed and begins with practices in December. Third and fourth grade and fifth and sixth grades have separate leagues for boys and girls, and practices begin in December. We will offer a boys seventh- and eighth-grade team if numbers warrant and a coach is available. Be sure to sign up to coach a team when you register your child.
