Pamela Ann Harrewyn passed away Sept. 8, 2017, at the Vermont Respite House in Colchester, an amazing, peaceful sanctuary for individuals who are at the end of their lives.

Pam suffered for 16 months with cancer. Her loving support from family, friends, nurses and doctors during this challenging time will be forever cherished. Pam’s overwhelming courage during this time was that of immense strength and dignity coming from her inner mind and soul.

Pam was embraced by her beloved sons Brent and Ashton, and Jozef, her life-long friend and husband.

Pam was born in South Africa on July 31, 1954. In her early twenties, Pam ventured into the big world with her husband-to-be, Jozef. From that date on, her life was an adventure that took her to many places worldwide.

Pam, Jozef, Brent and Ashton immigrated from South Africa to Houston, Texas. In 1987, The Four Seasons Hotels transferred the family to Chicago, and in 1993, the family moved to Vermont. In 1997, the family opened Chef’s Corner in Williston as co-owners.

Pam was a friend, partner, mother and perfect pearl of a person with only the best qualities. She was loved, cherished, respected and above all embraced by all those she encountered during her adventurous life.

A celebration of Pam’s life will be held on Oct. 18, 2017 at the All Souls Interfaith Gathering in Shelburne. The ceremony will commence at 2 p.m. followed by a celebration with a reception until 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Williston Community Food Shelf, 400 Cornerstone Drive, #130, Williston, VT  05495 or the Humane Society of Chittenden County, 142 Kindness Court, South Burlington, VT 05403.
