It is with great sadness that the family of Elaine M. Wright, 88, of Williston, announces her passing late in the evening of Feb. 8, 2013. Her loving family was by her side while she took the hand of her Lord and went Home. She was born in Vergennes on May 5, 1924, the youngest daughter of Henry and Arecah Daily. She grew up in the Burlington area and graduated from Burlington High School, Class of 1942 with honors in Secretarial Studies. She worked as a secretary in the Burlington School System, at The University of Vermont, and as an Executive Secretary at General Electric until she retired in 1986. She truly loved her work and was known by many as “flying fingers” for her exceptional typing skills. Elaine possessed an entrepreneurial spirit and with her love for people and captivating smile, embarked on many small business ventures selling Avon, Sarah Coventry Jewelry, and later became a crafter. She sold Picturepoint and hand designed and hand-etched ornaments and earrings. She displayed and sold her crafts throughout Vermont and for many years at the Champlain Valley Fair. She was awarded the “Best Display” at the Champlain Valley Fair in 1990. She made many friends during those years and couldn’t wait to go to the next “show”! She had a true gift for connecting with people and was always interested in making new friends. These were her true passions, but her greatest joy came from the times she spent with her family. She cherished her family dearly and was always looking forward to the next family gathering. A few of her favorite things included traveling, Bingo nights, all things chocolate, shrimp cocktail, everything Vermont, Maple Walnut ice cream, all the lights and decorations on her Christmas tree, music, and a good game of Rummy, especially with her dear friend and neighbor, Dolly, and oh, those strawberry margaritas! She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Cronan and her husband, Jim, of Colchester; her son, Bradley Wright of Colchester; her ex-husband, friend and father of her two children, William (Ed) Wright of Burlington; and her grandson, Travis Gough and his wife, Sara, and her great-grandson, Tristan Gough, all of Williston. She was predeceased by her brother, Ralph Daily; and sister, Philinda Daily Cross. The family wishes to thank the VNA and all the wonderful caregivers who gave their best to enrich Elaine’s life these last five years. You all are truly out there doing God’s work every day! In lieu of flowers, should you wish, please consider a donation in Elaine’s honor to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, Vt. 05446.
