Champlain Valley Union High’s Nordic ski teams will be near Middlebury on Saturday for a competition at the Breadloaf campus.

The meet starts at 10 a.m.

In their most recent outing, a gathering of 15-plus teams at U-32 in East Montpelier on Saturday, the boys and girls teams each posted thirds in team standings. John Dixon rolled to an easy one-minute triumph in the boys division.

Dixon toured the course in 14 minutes and 43 seconds to outdistance runner-up Connor Hunt of Peoples Academy of Morrisville by a tad under a full minute. Sam Hughes of CVU posted a 10th place finish.

Molly Hebert (8th) was the lone Redhawk in the girls top 10.

Prior to the New Year, the girls trooped to an overwhelming victory in a Dec. 27 meet at Bolton Valley Resort, with a triumphant Hebert leading a front-running assault that captured seven of the first nine places.

Annie Jackson, Kylie DeGroot, Sierra Frisbie and Laura Jackson followed Hebert across the finish line in that order. Abby Stoner was seventh and Johanna Fehrs finished ninth.

Dixon scored another solid victory for the third place boys, winning the blue ribbon by better than 50 seconds. Teammate Jake Marston took sixth.
