New home for Sweet Grass

Observer staff report

November 21st, 2013

Just in time for the holiday season, Sweet Grass Gallery & Gifts has opened in the Williston Historic Village.

The store, which opened Nov. 13, features locally made art, crafts and food products. Formerly seasonal and located near Taft Corners, the store is now open year round in its new location.

The store is “a collection of fine Vermont-made products,” said owner Alyson Chase. “I have prices from $3 on up, so there is a whole different range of prices for everyone…. It’s a great place to buy a gift.”

The shop has work from 45 Vermont artists, some of whom exhibited their work when Sweet Grass was open last holiday season.

Chase said the community has been supportive during her first week of business.

“It’s going very well,” she said. “The neighbors have been great.”

Sweet Grass Gallery & Gifts is located at 8016 Williston Road. For more information, visit

  1. Louis M. Izzo says:

I take frequent walks in my neighborhood and surrounding sidewalks/roads on Industrial Avenue and Rt 2-A and occasionally see what appears to be a dog-poop bag, nicely tied, but simply left there in the road or on the sidewalk. I would like to remind dog-walkers that this is not appropriate. Please carry it off.
