Crystal G. Perry, owner of Rustic Roots salon in Williston, has launched a diaper drive for families in need to augment the annual Dee Physical Therapy diaper drive, which is in its 10th year.

hen local hair color specialist Crystal G. Perry was recovering from an injury at Dee Physical Therapy earlier this year, she was touched by the company’s commitment to annually collect diaper donations to give to families in need at the Committee on Temporary Shelter (COTS).

A single mother, Perry not only donated roughly 1,000 diapers to the cause, she launched her own diaper drive to augment Dee PT’s initiative.

Outside of Perry’s “Rustic Roots” salon in Williston, the donations are starting to pile up. As of last week, she had collected roughly 2,500 in three weeks. Donations can be dropped off through Dec. 15 at the salon, next to Massage Envy at 2141 Essex Road. The salon is located in Sola Salons, a co-working space for salon owners.

In the past nine years, Dee PT’s diaper drive has collected about 210,000 diapers for families staying at COTS in Burlington. In addition to Perry’s salon, diaper drop-offs are accepted at Dee PT’s three locations — in South Burlington, Shelburne and Hinesburg.

“Your donation helps families save so that they can move from shelters back to living independently,” Dee PT owner Jason Fitzgerald said.
