Youth News

Fall Story Time and Craft

Tuesday, Sept. 17, 11 a.m. Preschoolers are introduced to a variety of books and authors while gaining early literacy skills. Includes a simple craft activity. Theme: “Apple Picking Time.” For children ages 3-5.

Pajama Story Time with Abby Klein

Monday, Sept. 23, 6:30 p.m. Bring kids in PJs with their favorite stuffed animal for stories, a craft and a bedtime snack. For information call 876-7555. Sponsored by Building Bright Futures and Dorothy Alling Memorial Library.

Reading with Frosty & Friends Therapy Dogs

Tuesdays, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Starts Sept. 24. Bring a book and read to a dog! All dogs registered with Therapy Dogs of Vermont. All ages. Call 878-4918 to pre-register for 10-minute individual sessions.

It’s a Wonderful Leaf! Science Story Time

Tuesday, Sept. 24 at 11 a.m. Listen to stories and learn why leaves change color. Includes a craft activity. Presented by science educator Kristen Littlefield. Ages 3 and up.

Toddler Yoga & Stories

Fridays, 10:15 a.m. Five-week series starts Sept. 27. Simple yoga and books for children ages 1-5. Presented by Karen Allen. Pre-register at 878-4918.

The Tech Tutor Program

Sept. 12 and 26 from 3 to 6 p.m. Patrons may stop by anytime during tech hours for one-on-one sessions with a local teen to answer any technology questions.

Shape and Share Life Stories

Monday, Sept. 16 and 30, 12:30 to 2:30 p.m. Prompts trigger real life experience stories, which are crafted into engaging narrative and shared with the group. Led by Recille Hamrell.

Technology Night

Monday, Sept. 16 at 6:30 p.m. Learn how to download/access library e-books and audiobooks through Listen Up Vermont and One Click. Bring your own device for this interactive class. Presented by Angela Bernard. Preregister.

Brown Bag Book Club

Friday, Sept. 20, 12:30-1:30 p.m. Looking to meet others who love to discuss books? This month we will discuss “The Gardner Heist” by Ulrich Boser. Books available at the front desk. Coffee, tea, juice and dessert provided. Free and open to all.

Vermont Health Connect

Saturday, Sept. 21, 1-2:30 p.m. Learn about Vermont Health Connect. The community forum will cover topics including who can get coverage, new choices available to individuals and small businesses, financial help and more. Vermont Health Connect, also known as the Exchange, will offer a new way to choose a health plan that fits your needs and your budget. Both private and public plans will be available through Vermont Health Connect. Starting Oct. 1, you’ll have all the information you need to find the plan that’s right for you—all in one place. Open to all.

Reiki Sample Session

Wednesday, Sept. 25 at 6 p.m. Williston’s Sandy Jefferis, a Reiki practitioner, will introduce the healing treatment offered through light touch or no touch that promotes balance of body, mind, and spirit. Following a brief introduction to Reiki, 15 minute sample sessions will be offered.
