Bill Young a good neighbor

I am writing to support Bill Young’s guest column entitled “Maple Leaf Farm would be a good neighbor” (Feb 21). As a selectperson in Underhill from 2000-2002, I was able to learn first hand of Bill’s attention to being a positive part of the community. Whenever there was a concern about any aspect of the operation of Maple Leaf Farm, Bill worked diligently to insure that the problem was resolved. He was totally professional and proactive in his role as executive director.

Whatever the decision about having the former Pine Ridge School as a treatment facility, one issue should not be of concern. Bill Young would be a good neighbor who would do everything in his power to insure that community concerns were addressed.

almost 3 decades ago when williston started it’s development review process the public works section was pushing for a wider roadway typical for residential streets. The town adopted 30 ft widths vs 24ft. That’s 6/24 (30%) additional impervious area and runoff that needs to treated before flowing into ALLEN BROOK. The town and selectboard have indicated a lack of interest to reach out and help communties like mine that have had expired stormwater permits for more then a decade. Its always been a wait and see, well I see where this headed now.
