As next door neighbors, the managers at Lenny’s Shoe and Apparel in Williston were among the first to catch wind of Chef’s Corner’s planned move from Route 2A to the shopping plaza at Cornerstone Drive.

“We knew when they needed a bigger space we were going to jump on the opportunity,” Lenny’s manager Bobbie Jo Roby said last week.

Chef’s Corner is now opened at its new location, and the space it vacated next to Lenny’s is now full of outdoor apparel and footwear.

The former café space was minimally modified to become Lenny’s stockroom. What was Lenny’s stockroom was transformed with new floors and walls to become new retail space that expands the store’s showroom by about one third. The store plans to open the new space this week, then work on a new layout throughout.

“The whole store will be flipped,” Roby said. “It will make it more shoppable, giving customers the freedom of more space and us to be able to better display things.”

Lenny’s has four locations, and the Williston store, although it’s the most trafficked, is not the largest. The store is packed with products, making for tight squeezes between racks. The new layout will spread things out and also allow for greater size and brand selection.

“Our presentations and displays will be much cleaner,” Roby said. “It will better represent the quality (of products) that we sell.”
