July 2, 2009 Coyote hits cruiserA Williston police officer reported that a coyote hit the side of his cruiser on French Hill on June 23, according to police reports. An Essex police officer responded, and the coyote was reportedly “sitting in the road confused” before running into an adjacent field. The Williston officer was not injured. Smoke bombsPolice received a report of smoke bombs in mailboxes at Maple Tree Place Apartments on June 22, according to police reports. Police subsequently located a juvenile and parent and informed the juvenile “it was not OK to be playing with smoke bombs or throwing them in mailboxes,” according to the report. The youth “agreed there would be no more incidents,” the report notes. Setting firePolice received a report of juveniles trying to “set propane tanks on fire” near Williston Central School on June 22, according to police reports. Police found the juveniles, who admitted they were trying to use an asphalt melting torch that they “found on the side of the road” to light a propane tank on fire, according to the report. The tank and torch were seized by police and the juveniles were released, the report notes. Theft• Jamie L. Hoben, 24, of Jericho was cited on a charge of retail theft from Wal-Mart on May 20 after allegedly stealing more than $47 worth of merchandise, according to police reports. No other information was released. • Rebeka R. Foret, 27, of Grand Isle was cited on a charge of retail theft from Wal-Mart on May 26 after allegedly stealing more than $100 worth of merchandise, according to police reports. No other information was released. • Brian R. Cross, 45, of St. Albans was cited on a charge of retail theft from Hannaford on June 22 after allegedly stealing $22 worth of merchandise, according to police reports. He was cited to appear in court. • Police received a report on June 26 that some women were “going into cars” in the Toys “R” Us parking lot, according to police reports. Some letters were later found to be “stolen from a stack of mail” in one of the vehicles, the report notes. The investigation is ongoing. Driving under the influence• Lindsey J. Moore, 29, of Williston was cited on a charge of driving under the influence on June 25 after “going off the road on a motorcycle,” according to police reports. His blood alcohol test registered .145, according to the report. The legal limit for driving in Vermont is .08. He was cited to appear in court. • Thomas C. Adams, 31, of Burlington was cited on a charge of driving under the influence after a motor vehicle stop on June 27, according to police reports. His blood alcohol test registered .101, according to the report. He was cited to appear in court. Unattended childPolice received a report on June 24 regarding a man who “left a child unattended in a car” near a local hair salon, according to police reports. The case was forwarded to the Vermont Department of Children and Families, according to the report. Simple AssaultA 15-year-old male was cited on a charge of simple assault on June 23 and was taken to Woodside Juvenile Detention Center, according to police reports. He was cited to appear in court on July 23. No other information was released. Driving with suspended license• Lisa Kunze, 28, of Richmond was cited on June 23 to appear in court on Aug. 3 on a charge of driving with a suspended license, according to police reports. The citation was given as a result of a traffic stop. No other information was released. • Troy Brown, 28, of Burlington was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license after a motor vehicle stop on June 24, according to police reports. No other information was released. • Amber Lacross, 27, of Hinesburg was cited to appear in court on Aug. 3 on a charge of driving with a suspended license on June 24, according to police reports. Lacross also had a warrant out for her arrest from Franklin County for driving with a suspended license, according to the report. She was lodged at Chittenden County Correctional Center, the report notes. • Joseph Johnson, 24, of Starksboro was cited on a charge of driving with a suspended license on June 26, according to police reports. He was cited to appear in court. No other information was released.
