The Williston Selectboard will hold a public hearing to consider amending section 4.2 of Chapter 4, concerning agricultural and silvacultural buildings and portions of Chapter 28 of the Williston Unified Development Bylaws governing development within Special Flood Hazard Areas on Monday, March 22, 2010 at 7:30 p.m. The hearing will take place in the public meeting room located on the second floor of the Williston Town Hall located at 7900 Williston Road, Williston, Vermont 05495. Public comment at this hearing is welcomed and encouraged.
The proposed changes to the Unified Development Bylaws governing the regulation of development in Special Flood Hazard Areas have are necessary to insure that the town’s regulations comply with the requirements of the State of Vermont and the Nation Flood Insurance Program. With consultation from Vermont Department of Environment and Conservation Flood Mapping program, the town is proposing making some changes to its existing regulations pertaining to Special Flood Hazard Areas. The proposed changes to Chapter 4 may also affect the construction of agricultural buildings in general.These changes are designed to insure that the town’s regulations contain the necessary provisions and statutory language to meet the requirements from the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) for continued participation in the National Flood Insurance Program.
