Haunted Forest kicks off

September 26th, 2013

With October just around the corner, preparations for this year’s Haunted Forest—an annual Williston Halloween extravaganza—are shifting into high gear.

Organizers are hosting a kick off event Friday at the Williston Federated Church, beginning at 6:30 p.m. They will share information about the upcoming season, as well as provide food.

“It’s an opportunity for us to really get people to come and start volunteering with us or to come volunteer with us again and really to open our season,” said Katie Ballard, managing director.

The Haunted Forest runs from Oct. 24 – 26 this year at Catamount Outdoor Family Center. This year’s theme is “Old England.”

Beginning this weekend, Haunted Forest organizers will hold work parties every weekend, where volunteers help build sets, organize costumes, paint and more. The annual community pumpkin carving for the event is set for Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

almost 3 decades ago when williston started it’s development review process the public works section was pushing for a wider roadway typical for residential streets. The town adopted 30 ft widths vs 24ft. That’s 6/24 (30%) additional impervious area and runoff that needs to treated before flowing into ALLEN BROOK. The town and selectboard have indicated a lack of interest to reach out and help communties like mine that have had expired stormwater permits for more then a decade. Its always been a wait and see, well I see where this headed now.
