With more than a week off from competition before they return to the slopes Feb. 6, The Champlain Valley Union High alpine skiers have time to reflect on their tie for first place Monday in an 11-school giant slalom at Cochran’s Ski Area in Richmond.

Coach Mike Minnerly’s boys and girls shared first place with South Burlington High in the combines results, each with 41 points. Mount Manfield Union was third with 72 but had both girls (Karin Rand) and boys (Kyle Polson) winners.

CVU’s guys crowded four finishers in places five through 10. They were Caden Frost (fifth), Nate Coffin (sixth), Trent Smith (eighth) and Cole Bartlett (10th).

Emma Putre led the CVU girls with a third place finish while Josie Beresford joined her in the top 10 by taking eighth.
