Firefighters responded to a call for a chimney fire on Beartown Road at 8:18 p.m. on Jan. 27. Fire crews discovered a small fire, which they quickly extinguished, according to Chief Ken Morton. Firefighters cleaned the chimney and woodstove to ensure another fire would not ignite. Thirteen crew members responded to the call on Engines 1 and 2, Tower 1 and Car 1.
A water pipe burst at the Williston Barracks of the Vermont State Police on Jan. 31, bringing firefighters to the building on Vermont 2A at 4:23 p.m. Morton said a pipe froze and then burst, sending water into the barracks. Firefighters and state police worked to contain water damage. Morton said police called a restoration company to help with cleanup. Seven firefighters reported to the scene on Engine 2, Tower 1 and Car 1.
