Final day for State Nordic comp (3/4/10)

The second place Champlain Valley Union High girls Nordic team were hoping to make up a 26-point deficit to leading Mount Anthony Union High of Bennington on Wednesday when the skate portion of the two-day state high school championships takes place at Prospect Mountain in Woodford.

The meet was scheduled to finish after press deadline.

Led by Kylie deGroot’s seventh place finish and a strong runner-up performance by the relay team, CVU took second in the freestyle event Monday at the Craftsbury Outdoor Center, finishing with 66 points. Mount Anthony Union High slid into first place with 40.

CVU’s relay team was 32 seconds behind the winning Mount Anthony group.

The Redhawks boys were fourth with 118 points to 53.2 for first place Mount Anthony. Andrew Childs led CVU skiers by coming in ninth.

The relay team was fourth.
