Dental hygienist program expands at Vermont Tech’s Williston campus College awarded $63K grant

Delta Dental Plan of Vermont has awarded Vermont Technical College a $63,000 grant to expand the schools dental hygienist program.

The dental hygienist program operates out of Vermont Tech’s Williston Campus.

The college plans use the grant funds to purchase a van and transform it into a traveling dental hygienist’s office. The van, to be nicknamed The Molar Express, will allow students to conduct screenings and assessments in schools and nursing homes around Vermont.

“Vermont Tech is very excited about this generous gift from Delta Dental,” college President Patricia Moulton said in a press release. “This will allow us to expand our program to more areas of the state as well as deliver much-needed dental services around the state. It is a win-win for the college and dental hygiene in Vermont.”

Kathleen B. Walker, treasurer of the Northeast Delta Dental Foundation, added: “Delta Dental Plan of Vermont is pleased to support Vermont Technical College’s dental hygiene program’s expansion as they strive to serve patients throughout the state. We are proud to invest in the dental workforce, and our hope is that these future dental hygienists choose to practice in Vermont after graduation.”
