The CVU theatre program brings a production of “The Little Mermaid” to the stage in August.

The Champlain Valley Union High School Theatre Program returns to the stage this summer with a production of “The Little Mermaid.” Rehearsals start later this month for an Aug. 10-12 run of shows.

This is the second year the program has performed a summer musical. Last summer it performed “The Lion King.”

Shows will take place Friday, Aug. 10, Saturday, Aug. 11 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Aug. 12 at 2 p.m. in the high school theater in Hinesburg.

As part of the July 23-Aug. 9 rehearsal period, rising freshmen and sophomores can join director Ben Recchia, artistic director Carl Recchia, CVU upperclassmen and alumni, as well as community volunteers, in a three-week theater camp.

“The goal of this production is to provide an opportunity for rising underclassmen to meet other students, develop theatrical skills and become part of the CVU Arts family,” Ben Recchia said.
