In the wake of long trip and three-point loss in St. Johnsbury on Tuesday night, the Champlain Valley Union High girls basketball team hopes to get back on the winning side of things Friday night when a solid Spaulding High team comes to Bremner Gymnasium for a 7 p.m. contest.

The 6-4 Redhawks led the St. Johnsbury Academy Hilltoppers Tuesday until Hannah Rowe dropped in a jumper with 1:20 remaining to put the home team up, 38-37. Two late free throws iced the 40-37 decision for the 6-4 victors.

Junior Allison Gannon fired in 16 points to lead CVU scorers.
