CVU field hockey upsets Essex

The seventh-seeded Champlain Valley Union High School field hockey team upset number two seed Essex High School 1-0 on Friday to advance to the semifinal game.

Senior Katie Arms scored the game’s lone point.

The Redhawks were scheduled to play third-seeded Mount Anthony Union High School—a team they have not yet faced—on Wednesday evening, after the Observer’s press deadline.

If they win that game, the Redhawks will face the winner of the South Burlington High School-Rutland High School game, also set for Wednesday. The state championship game is set for Saturday at 3 p.m. at the University of Vermont.

  1. Louis M. Izzo says:

I take frequent walks in my neighborhood and surrounding sidewalks/roads on Industrial Avenue and Rt 2-A and occasionally see what appears to be a dog-poop bag, nicely tied, but simply left there in the road or on the sidewalk. I would like to remind dog-walkers that this is not appropriate. Please carry it off.
